Here are a few more photos from Acklins, Bahamas to pique your interest. Sorry they are unedited. I had time to add them, not to clean them up. The first is an interesting orchid we found along the road, the third is indeed a shark buried in the sand (there were two and I'm still trying to figure out how/why they were there), and the rest are just plants, buildings, and ruins I found interesting.











Is this island similar to Andros in that not a toursity place and not many inhabitants?
ReplyDeleteIt's actually even more remote. There are only between 350 and 500 folks on the entire island (depending on who you ask) and other than about 4 bonefish camps (that are NOT thriving) there is no tourism. The one settlement we visited in the south of the island the kids had only seen 2 white people in the last year. Yeah... very remote. You really have to WANT to get there.
